Siberian Huskies

Does anyone have some tips on the care for Siberian Huskies? A beautiful husky was dumped in our yard. The poor thing looked like he was starving. We are leaning toward keeping him, and quite frankly if we just shipped him off to a shelter he probably wouldn't last long anyway considering how full these shelters are. I am a total cat person and am a wee bit scared of dogs, so I am pretty clueless when it comes to the care of a dog.
